Volants give a simple skirt a touch of lightness and romance. Depending on the material, flounces can also be styled cool. The flounce and frill trend can be seen everywhere. On the skirt pattern shown, the volants are attached to the front in a curve from the hem to the waistband in the seam, giving the skirt a new nostalgic look.

- Mark the ruffle height with 10 cm at the centre back.
- Draw the seamline for the ruffles from the centre back to the intersection of the centre front and the waistline.
- Draw a vertical and horizontal line for the spiral design.
- Draw a circle with radius (r) = 3 cm over the pivot point at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical line.
- From the inner circle starting from the width of the ruffle draw a spiral with increasing width, taking into account the seam allowances (here 2 x 1 cm).
- Measure the seam length on the skirt pattern and transfer this measurement to the seam of the ruffle.

Mirror the front skirt pattern over the centre front.

Draw the round front edge from the dart to the hem.

Mark three cutting lines as shown in the illustration.

Slash and spread the lower cutting line so that the dart is closed. Slash and spread the other two cutting lines 10 cm each.

Blend the waistline and draw the new front edge.
