The specialist magazine for fashion and pattern cutting is published six times a year in a flip-format edition, with separate womenswear and menswear sections. It is available both in print and as a digital download, and every issue includes a pattern sheet.

The womenswear section of the current issue opens with the Designer Look »Shapewear«. Body-shaping materials, carefully considered style lines and influences from sportswear demonstrate how shapewear can provide fresh inspiration for fashion design. In our portrait, we take a look behind the scenes at the embroidery Stickerei Müller in Diespeck. Stefan Glass shows how experience, technical expertise and a spirit of experimentation come together to create exceptional embroidery for haute couture, prêt-à-porter, costume and film. Striking volume takes centre stage in our Pattern Technique feature: Coats with Emphasized Shoulders bring a touch of the 1980s back into focus. Using three designs, we show how presence, structure and fit can be skilfully balanced. In our background feature »Loincloth to Apron«, we explore the history of a seemingly simple garment and reveal what the apron can tell us about work, status and social roles. We also introduce the newly launched M. Müller & Sohn Academy and look ahead to the vocational school seminar »Designing Silhouettes – The KROBOS Masterclass« with Lukas Krob. The womenswear section is completed by the industry directory.

The menswear section opens with the Designer Look »Deconstructed«. Garments are taken apart, familiar constructions are reassembled and proportions deliberately shifted. The result is a new design language that challenges conventional rules and leaves plenty of scope for individual ideas. In our interview, we speak to Oscar Udeshi about his unconventional journey from banker to bespoke tailor, his training in shirtmaking on London’s legendary Jermyn Street and his approach to contemporary bespoke menswear. The conversation covers lightness, distinctive collars and cuffs, bespoke tailoring and the art of truly understanding a client. For our Pattern Technique feature, we travel back to the French Directoire and explore the eccentric Incroyables. A tailcoat, two waistcoats worn one over the other and trousers are reconstructed from a historical pattern-cutting perspective, demonstrating that the playful breaking of fashion rules is far from a modern invention. In our »Short Feature«, we present the Italian label Junkle, which combines upcycling with a distinctive brand identity and contemporary design. We also provide information on funding options for seminars at our vocational school. The menswear section is rounded off with the editorial team’s selection of dates, books and TV recommendations, as well as the Editor’s Pick featuring some of the best tried-and-tested tailoring tools.
