The magazine specialized in fashion and pattern making is published ten times a year as a turnaround edition with topics on women’s and men’s fashion. The magazine is available for download in English. Each issue of M. Müller & Sohn magazine contains an enclosed sewing pattern.
On the women’s fashion pages we have great news of our own: from now on you can train and further your education at the renowned M. Müller & Sohn professional school in Hamburg! For now, the courses are in German only, but we are working on our online courses which will be available also in English! Martina Öttl is trained in furniture design, she studied architecture and is an expert dressmaker and can therefore at home in both art and craftmanship, as evidenced by her collection »Interims fill dreams«, which she began on a trip to Peru. In the processing section we take a closer look at hemstitching and explain different variations step by step. And in the pattern technique we take a look at vintage midi skirts, whose cut we transform in a modern way, look forward to an authentic look of the 20s and 30s! You can find inspiration for a matching blouse in our Designer Look.
On the menswear pages we report from Munich Fabric Start, one of Germany’s largest fashion fairs, where trade visitors can see the direction in which the textile and fashion market is developing, for the 2023/24 fabric season it is all about sustainability both in the fabrics themselves and in the production processes and finishes. According to a Greenpeace study, younger women in particular – the target group of the fast fashion industry – are taking a conscious approach to clothing, and in the Industry and Crafts section we take a closer look at this survey and shed light on what opportunities this creates for crafts. We continue our Erasmus+ training series with Franziska Dierker’s experiences at the opera in Malmö, in a men’s tailor shop in Barcelona and at a Swedish zero-waste company, and Franziska Gerber talks to us about the opportunities the Erasmus programme opened for her in France. The pattern-technique section is about grading, or adjusting production-ready patterns of the basic size to another size group.
The enclosed pattern contains one Ski Jacket for women (in European sizes 36 – 50).
