M. Müller & Sohn Magazine 05-06.2025
Professional Magazine for Fashion and Pattern Making // Shirt blouses & basic jacket block pattern // Stage meets fashion // Button art from Austria // English shirt fabrics // Culottes patternDeutsch
The magazine specialized in fashion and pattern making is published six times a year as a turnaround edition with topics on women’s and men’s fashion. The magazine is available for download in English. Each issue of M. Müller & Sohn magazine contains an enclosed sewing pattern.
On the women’s designer look pages, a classic is moving into the spotlight in a new form: shorts in luxurious designs – from sporty and elegant to extravagantly dramatic. In the following interview, costume designer Valerie Hirschmann talks about her work between theater, opera and free fashion art. Her creations impressively demonstrate how textiles can be used to express emotion and narrative.
Our portrait of Austria’s last mother-of-pearl manufactory provides an insight into centuries-old craftsmanship – mother-of-pearl buttons from the Mattejka manufactory are unparalleled in their precision and beauty. The pattern technique is also about timeless design: the shirt blouse, constructed on the template of a basic pattern block without darts, unfolds its fashion potential in three sophisticated pattern variations.
The portrait of Gudrun Kaindl’s label Pink Passion and her UltraViolet Berlin collection illuminates new stages for gender-fluid fashion and the creative field of tension between dance, pop culture and textile design. We also show why the delicate but powerful fabric organza is currently celebrating a real comeback.
On the men’s designer look pages, the shirt takes center stage with a special focus on the choice of material and cut. Then find out what awaits you at our OPEN DAY at the M. Müller & Sohn technical college in Hamburg. The traditional textile company Thomas Mason is presented in a portrait and proves that quality, archive treasures and innovation are not mutually exclusive.
In the pattern technique section, we present four basic pattern blocks for jackets – from classic to modern, including variations for special figure types.
A critical look at the bespoke tailoring trade reveals current challenges and innovative approaches, such as hybrid training concepts. Practical recommendations for tools, dates and TV tips round off the issue.
The enclosed pattern contains culotte pants (in European sizes 36 – 50).
This issue contains 60 pages.
